JoeJoomla Website Portfolio

I'm not sure what took me so long but I finally put a JoeJoomla website portfolio online. Perhaps it's the 'shoemaker with the holes in his own shoes' syndrome. I had a quiet day and was able to go through the list and prepare thumbnails of a few sites and put them up there. I looked around for ideas of how to display a portfolio. I looked at how other people show their work. I decided on a very simple way to do it. The JoeJoomla online website portfolio is a category blog layout of individual articles. Each article has a picture and descrption of a single website. This will make it easy to add and remove sites in the future. I think it works well.

Not every site that I have worked on has been a Joomla! site. I've done work on Wordpress and .asp sites. Some of them have been intranets for organizations. I decided to specialize in Joomla! sites because of the powerful features and ease of administration. In the past managing a website was cumbersome. Now with Joomla! just about anyone can run a feature rich dynamic content management system.

Joomla! has come a long way since I started using it. It also has an exciting future. I really think the best is yet to come for Joomla! Version 1.6 is in the works and there's some great new features in store. Hopefully with new functionality such as ACL (access control levels) Joomla! won't become difficult to use. I think that is a big challenge for the developers. How do you add powerful new functionality but keep it simple? That's no small task. I've used other open source content management systems in the past and they were crazy to administer. The Joomla! development team are a smart and creative group who are taking the time to do it right. I am certain that making Joomla! the CMS of choice to specialize in is the right decision.

Why don't you drop in to the JoeJoomla forum and let me know what you think of Joomla!
